На мой форум пошла DDoS-атака. Обычно было от 20 до 100 посетителей.
А тут аж 2-3 тысячи (максимум - 3,578, сейчас 2687)
Сайт при этом работает очень медленно.

This does not appear to be affecting your account in any way, or the server.

Usually in cpanel -> cloudflare section is used to block dos attacks - but because your domain is pr.ai it may be a problem.

После этого хоть полных отказов по ошибке 500 не стало. Но всё равно очень медленно.
Хотсер говорит, что есть какая-то стандартная защита, но ввиду того, что у меня домен на .ai, это затрудено.
А что, эта защита для comов?

Это атака сильная или не очень?
Что может быть её причиной?

Вчера был в Киеве на митинге против Порошенко, и в этот же день началась атака.
До этого никогда такого не было. Странно.

Вот он я на митинге. Уже уголовник, между прочим, возбуждено уголовное дело за блокирование магистралей.

Можно ограничить посетителей форума, например, мной (по IP) и ещё сотней случайных посетителей, чтобы одновременно на форуме не было больше ста человек?

For dos protection interserver has partnered with cloudflare.com.

You can enabled cloudflare in cpanel of your site. However using cpanel only protects www.pr.ai - you would need to have site calls redirect to www.pr.ai from http://pr.ai to get protection. OR



1) sign up for a free account at cloudflare.com (use FREE plan)

2) after creating the account and logging in, enter the domain to add to cloudflare. Cloudflare will detect the dns for your domain.

3) two dns servers will be given from cloudflare for your domain to change your domain name to. It will require at the domain name registrar your current dns servers be changed to these two new dns servers.

4) with in 24 hours the domain will be cloudflare enabled. The 24 hour time is dns propogation time.



In order to have cloudflare be on www.domain.com and not domain.com, in the dns settings the activate cloudflare must be enabled for www and disabled for the domain name. An enabled record will have a filled in orange cloud, and a disable record will have a gray cloud. The gray clouds are off cloudflare (your current site ip). An orange clouds are on cloud flare (cloudflare ip).

Только я подключился к CloudFlare, то есть зарегистрировался, ввёл название своего сайта pr.ai, минуту оно что-то обрабатывало, и после этого стало всё нормально!!!

Нынче виртуальные сервера без прокси страшно держать.

Хостер мне написал, что атака прекратилась не из-за CloudFlare, потому что там пропагация длится сутки, а просто атакёр сам прекратил атаку.

ТОже частенько висит туча "пользователей" на форуме, чуть ли не ежедневно.
ОЧЕНЬ сильно выносила мозг нашим хостерам, и видимо они решили что мне проще дать чем объяснить (с)

В итоге, ддосят (обычно после какой-нибудь жуткой разборки и бана начинают отрываться на самом сервере). А сервак не шелОхнется ТТТТ!!! нагрузка конечно видимая 11-15, но ..
Вот буквально вчера: Рекорд одновременного пребывания 2,605, это было Вчера в 07:53. а по сути живыми пользователями одновременно не больше 600 набегало, и то после какойнить вкусной рассылки ..

Интересно, а сколько же постетителей одновременно выдерживает обычный виртуальный хостинг?

это примерно как "сколько мешков картошки перевезёт обычный автомобиль".
грузоподъёмность разная, форма кузова разная и т.д.
у хостингов тоже разные мощности - если сервак мощный и на нём три VPS, до дофига.
а если сервер слабенький и на нём под сотню VPS, то с гулькин нос.
всё зависит от выделенных ресурсов.

Такое впечатление, что после того, как я начал сотрудничать с CloudFlare, не только атака прекратилась, но и форум начал работать куда быстрее, летать.
Может, у меня и раньше висело что-то враждебное на форуме, а CloudFlare отсекло всё напрочь?
Ещё один эффект - резко подскочил рейтинг в Alexa, до рекордного для меня значения 384408
Может, это из-за атаки, Alexa посчитал атаку за наплыв посетителей?
