1.- A bit of history

Since October 2006 I was developing vB AddOns for vB3 and then for vB4, having more than 30 AddOns. Not simple AddOns but really Major Additions. Only 2-3 of them had less of 10,000 lines of code. After the release of vB5 and when I realized that once more I've to re-write all my scripts to work with the new version, I gave up as vB coder. Has no sense to work (commercially) for this platform. I don't have problem to spend hours of hours, days of days, weeks of weeks to improve my work by adding new features. But it's waste of time to work again and again, trying to make something which works fine for xxx version, to be working with the new one, just because the vB development team like to make experiments on new syntax, new interfaces etc etc. I don't blame them, they do they work, but its time for me to stop follow them. That's why I gave all my mods to Lionel from vBCover.com in case that he wants to continue using them. For me "Big projects" and "vB5" are out of my plans anymore.

So, after 7 years, I'm here not as coder, but just like you. WEBMASTER. Maybe my group title says Coder, but I'll try to change it. Now, I've started operating a portal in my small city. Doing it I realized something which pushed me to start coding the "SlimLine series" vB AddOns. Till now I was trying to add as more features as it was possible. That's fine for big boards, but for my small portal was like having a luxury car while I'm living in a hovel.

2.- What are SlimLine AddOns?

As the name points, they're ...slim. No big addons with dozens of unwanted features. They'll have all the basics features (none missing), but nothing more. I'll code all of them based on my own use only. Sorry for it, but finally all of them will be totally free. Download and check them, and if you find them usefull, the use them. Otherwise, look for something better.

SlimLine AddOns are not Lite versions in the meaning that is a PRO version with cut features. No. The features that you'll find here are the same that you can find in my site: http://www.lagadas.com . Maybe in the future I'll add some extra features for commercial purposes, but currently my plans are to finish some more addons like:

• Articles (CMS style)
• Photos (Not Albums etc... just categories where user can post photos).
• Reviews (With one rating question only)
• User Clubs
• ...etc... etc... but again "SlimLine"!!

3.- What is SL Classifieds

Is better to say what is NOT SL Classifieds . For those who have used MarysClassifieds, I can say that they are 2 products which you can't compate. MarysClassifieds had dozens of features, but when I installed in my site I realized that I need only 10% of those features. Maybe less. This is SL Classifieds. A minimalist version of MarysClassifieds, but I bet that 70% of the webmasters will find this one more pretty, more usefull.

• It supports 4 types of Classifieds:

• For Sale
• Wanted
• For Trade
• Free Offers

• Supports unlimited categories
• Supports Extra fields (but not searchable)
• Has PM templates for:

• PM user when admin approves his Classifieds
• PM user when admin rejects Classified
• PM seller when a user Makes an Offer
• PM seller when a user clicks Buy it
• PM seller when a use uses the contact form

• Supports 5 statuses:

1. Open
2. Hidden
3. Reserved
4. Expired
5. Sold
6. Please note that unlike my old mod, here nothing is automatic. The seller has to take care to switch between statuses.

• There are listings for:

• Category classifieds
• Timeframe (What's New) Classifieds
• Seller Classifieds
• Search Results

• In view Ad page the visitor can see also:

• Other classifieds from the same seller
• Similar classifieds from the same category

• In all pages there are available the follow blocks having the appearance of widgets:

• Category Menu
• Search Form
• Statistics
• Latest classifieds
• Popular classifieds
• Soon to expire classifieds.

Version 1.5 additions:

• Facebook Like Advanced (Shows users who liked it)
• RSS Feeds of last 10 Classifieds
• Seller has the ability to not mark a classifieds as reserved when a user clickc BuyNow, in case that he has stock of the same items and he wants to keep classifieds active.
• Added description in extra fields appearing as help text in add/edit form.
• In case that a category has no subcategories, beside the "No more categories" added an icon/link to previous category level.

4.- How you can make (a bit) money with it.

Using vBulletin's Subscriptions Manager you can set subscription which will upgrade the subscribers to a higher usergroup with more privilenges in SL Classifieds. eg:

• To restrict post in specific categories. The system works such a way that for each category you can set who can post:

• All usergroups
• None usergroup
• Specific usergroup(s).

• To allow more days for postings. eg usergroup A can set a maximum of 15 days before the Ad will remove from the system, while usergroup B can set the Ad's duration for 45 days etc.
• Concurrent Ads. eg Register users can have only 1 active ad, while your VIP usergroup can has 5 ..or 10 ... or whatever you want.
• More photos per Ad

5.- Installation

1. Download and unzip the file Classifieds_XXXX.zip
2. Upload the content of upload folder to the directory where your vB installation is. As a check: classifieds.php must be on the same directoru as global.php, forum.php etc. SL Classifieds are not working out of vB installation directory.
3. CMOD 777 the directories:

1. christeris/classifieds/photos
2. christeris/classifieds/photos/thumbs
3. christeris/classifieds/photos/tmp

4. Goto Admincp and import product-classifieds.xml. Double check before if you have another product with the same name.
5. Set the various settings in Classifieds->General settings
6. Set usergroup permissions
7. Check and modify if you want PM templates.
8. Set categories
9. Set Extra fields (in case that you want them).

6.- SEO URLs

• If you're using vbSeo open the file Classifieds_vBSEO_Custom_Rewrite_Rules.txt and add them to your vbSeo installation.
• If you're using .htaccasse file copy the contents of htaccess.txt and add it to your current .htaccess files. If you don't have such file and your server is compatible with such files, upload htaccess.txt to your vB directory and rename it to: .htaccess

In this version:

Have fixed all reported bugs. There is still a reported bug, but I'm unable to reproduce it, so I need your help. If any user has found the editor missing in add/edit classified, I'll appreciate if he/she reports it.

Classifieds ver. 1.6.0 is available for download. This is a maintenance release.

Adds the missing {vb:raw headinclude_bottom} from the templates.
Improves RTL support with an extra setting (General settings-> Text direction ... default LTR).

To upgrade download ver.1.6.0 and then:

Upload christeris/includes/functions.php to christeris/includes/
Import product-classifieds.xml checking overwrite
If you're using a RTL language change the setting Text direction in General Classifieds settings.

Classifieds 1.7.0 just released with follow bug fixes:

Broken image link in category listings where there was no photo uploaded
Wrong link on clicking the back button (categories block) where the main category has no subcategories
RSS error. Seems that RSS can't parse well the language code, that's why I hand coded iso-8859-1. If you're using another charset you need to edit classifieds.php and search for iso-8859-1 and then replace it with your own.
Added extra check to secure that non-logon user can't see any button (buy, make offer etc) in view ad page
Completed the RTL support

There is code to show Latest Classifieds in Forum sidebar and not only in CMS widgets
For easier use (as many users have found difficulties to use it), the Terms text is not in a text anymore but is in Classifieds General Settings
Fixed a bug of missing link in Similar ads
Improved RTL support by using the correct arrow icons
I found a bug in extra fields (type checkbox) which I fixed it.

Final (Stable) version 1.8.1
The final (non Beta anymore) Classifieds version 1.8.1 has released fixing 2 reported bugs:

Wrong variable name is search results (even if that value is very rarelly used)
Terms in Add/Edit form was still pointing to iframe while the rest code has changed.

Для установки, автор настоятельно рекомендовал прочитать инструкцию, которая находиться в архиве

Думаю особого труда не составит переделать этот виджет для сайдбара форума
(признаюсь, я его не смотрел, времени нет, выкладываю как есть)

Автору уважение за его труд, молодец мужик лаконично, добротно и с моментальной реакцией на проблемки

а под 3.8 он такое не сделает?
Существующий в настоящий момент хак Classified под 3.8 ужасен и неюзабелен.

Более того, судя по переписке, он даже не заморачивается с предыдущими 4.1.x

А классфилдс шикарный, Лучше этого, только навороченный от Mary's(мог ошибиться) - но ее не поддерживается - тетка обиделась и посносила все свои хаки с орга
На Mary's Classfilds - много не нужного, лишнего, для большинства сайтов, и на сегодня он практически не работоспособен, требует доработок.
Под пятерку, он писал, что вроде собирается.

За темой Chris, слежу и буду следить, что будет интересного - буду публиковать тут

я нашим гуру начал на нервы действовать с идеей переехать на 4.2 и доделать под это некоторые их хаки.
Поди знай, откуда причина взялась )
