If you use the Vbulletin Plugin System (Specially if you use a lot of plugins), this will give you convenience of using the plugin system without all of the performance overhead involved resulting in faster page output.

(Technical Analysis):

Vbulletin currently utilizes a ternary operator based function call and eval system that is used to fetch un-compiled php code and eval() at runtime from the Vbulletin Datastore.

Let me work you through this; even IF you have the plugin system disabled, vbulletin is still using an empty function call vBulletinHook::fetch_hook() which takes CPU cycles. Now if it does return code, this is being processed through the eval() function, which unfortunately is natively one of PHPs "_slowest_" functions.

And to top it off, Vbulletin fetches the un-compiled php code from the (datastore, which by default is the database, other datastore caches still operate on serialize/unserlialize which is also "_slow_") on every request regardless if that particular code is being called by one of the hooks in that page; this results in excess useless data transfer, memory usage, and cpu cycles wasted on fetching this stuff.

Я не могу понять. Этот плагин просто отключает и включает все хаки? Или чего? Я выбрал включить- хаки выключились. Выключил- включились. Объясните плиз, что именно делает этот акселератор?

перевожу :
самый большой тормозперестройки(tm) в вбуллетине функция eval(),
куча кода компилируемого прямо как строка из mysql.
плагин выносит весь код плагинов в файлы и это позволяет скомпилировать их php-акселератором.
а плагин, который compress templates, просто уменьшает объем кода и eval работает чуток быстрее.


от себя:
когда они наконец-то придут к идее сделать компилируемые в php темплаты, их тоже можно будет выливать в файлы и это действительно будет быстрый вбуллетин.

А как им правильно пользоваться то? Я понажимал: у меня то включались, то выключались модули.
